The problem I am having is I let a friend drive my car and they downshifted hard into second aroud 40 45 mph. I trashed the guides and jumped some teeth; but, didn't crash the head.

I've replaced the components to speck. Cam locks fit easily and crank pulley marks line up.

    Threw code incorrect correlation crank/cam.

swapped sensors, flashed edm back to oem, and checked grounds. All good.

still throwing code, took it to a shop they went threw it and couldn't figure it out. They said mechanically it looks perfect.

I'm stuck on this one and don't quite know what to do.

So, I've heard of adjustable timing gears... thought maybe, problem is I cannot find anyone that makes them with the mag. for the afp.

    wtf.

Ok, now I know that cam position is based off cam and not the gear. Is there adjustable cam gears for the vr6? I really don't think the generation matters.

When I'm reading the faq, it sounds like the ecm can adapt timing. I don't see how; if so, can I flash 'er to the timing that I want?

Years back I remember seeing adjustable cam gears for the 12V, it may have been either cat or kent who made them.

Either way, it's a lot of work to adjust them. Just recheck your timing again.

Ecm can adapt ignition timing. Not cams. On a 24v the can timing can be changed to an extent, and is variable by the computer.

You'd might need some very steardy servo's for that.

I have a few sets of adjustable gears. $100/each and I guarantee that something will come loose and ruin the motor.

If you replaced things and you get that code, your timing is still off.

And Paul is the go-to-guy for anything VR6 related. No matter how many valves.
