Welcome to the club. It all started for me with my fist vw, a '73 karman ghia, and now here I am 7 vw's & 3 audis later...would never consider a jap car ever again.
Enjoy the new ride!

Hi Everyone,
I started shopping for cars for my wife about a month ago and when driving the TDIs I had one of those "I need to get one of these" moments. She's still shopping but I bought a 2013 Sportwagen TDI on Friday.
Having owned several Japanese cars I was reluctant to buy the VW because of reliability concerns. In the end I accepted the risk in exchange for a car I really enjoy driving while supporting a brand that dares to market a diesel--or a wagon for that matter--in the US.
So far my only issues are minor.
Beneath the radio there is a compartment that has a cover that rotates forward and latches. This works about 10% of the time. I just hope that I never need to open it again.
The other thing is somewhat minor but annoying and that is that with the iPod selected the audio blanks out for a second or two when playing songs from a playlist.
Still the styling, the fit and finish (especially the interior), and the performance is great. I didn't feel the need to step up to an Audi.
