It is apparently a common issue that the abs controller fails. There is a bad solder joint in it. When it fails, it will no longer respond to queries from vagcom or any other tool. Fix is to send it somewhere to get repaired or pay big bucks and replace it.

ABS light ON, and "No response from controller" message in vag com 409.1

hello everyone!
this is my first time here, could anyone please help figure out what's going on with my abs?
when i turn the ignition on the car makes three short beeps and three long ones, also the airbag light, the abs, CEL, and the brake light are all on and solid...when i start the engine same thing for the lights, plus tachometer doesn't work, sometimes it moves when i first start the engine but it goes back down to zero immediately.
i have the cheap ebay cable and vag com 409.1 that i am using, when the 31 pin connector is plugged to the abs module, and i try to scan abs brakes (address 03) it says no response from controller, and it tells me the same thing when i try to scan the engine(address 01). but with the abs module unplugged, the engine scans fine.

I would recommend bbk reman to get your abs control repaired or exchanged and both come with a lifetime warranty.

I tried another abs module that I got from a junkyard, and the same thing happened, when it's unplugged I can scan the engine, when I plug it I can't...does that mean the other abs module is junk too?

My abs module part number is 0273004 135. Does the replacement have to match down to the last number?

Yes, and if the module isn't original to your car it may need to be programmed. Used modules may already be bad, and if not probably will be. Pretty much all the originals fail. Best bet by far is to have YOUR module rebuilt. You can drive without it. Originally Posted by younes424
