Thread: 2013 CC VR6 4Motion vibration at highway speeds

  1. 10-07-2012 05:27 PM #1
Picked up a '13 VR6 4Motion about 1k miles ago. Since new I've had a noticeable vibration between 60-70 mph. The passenger seat noticeably shakes and I can feel the vibration through the floor. I work at a VW dealer and service balanced the wheels and tells me the car is fine. I disagree. Has anybody experienced anything like this and if so what was the cause/solution? Thank you for any insights.

Thank you for the suggestions. They did roadforce balance them. It hasn't really helped. I will have them investigate the bent wheel possiblity.

since you work at vw have them try new wheels and tires off another vehicle
and see if there is a difference. if it dissappears, then you may have the begining of
tire failure. are you running contis?

if chnging wheels and tires still gives you vibration, then you may have suspension
    issues.

did you curb the wheels or hit a pothole at hi speed recently?

The only time I've experienced any shaking at highway speed was when they 'balanced' my tires but messed up on something. Took it back, had them rebalanced by the 'go to guy' for balancing at the dealership, haven't had a problem since.

If you're concerned, have them show you the actual numbers for the balance. Additionally, try to avoid driving while the issue is ongoing so you don't end up with damage to other components on the car.

I was driving and noticed the car and seat vibrating/shaking very badly. Were you ever able to come to a conclusion as to what could have been the cause? One concern I had is it snowed here recently and when I looked under the front of the car under the engine, the entire steering and wheel assembly was encased in ice. I wonder if this is the reason for my problem. Please let me know.

I've had my '13 4Motion for about 3 months and ~3000 miles from new. It has been really smooth and quiet, except for a little squeak from the sunroof or overhead console when it was -5 F outside. I've never had any vibrations at any speeds (up to well, plenty fast ), so my guess is something is up with your "copy".
What I'd build from the VAG parts bin: The "CC R25" : 2.5 TFSI engine, 7spd DSG, 4Motion w/ Haldex controller, plus ALL the toys Europe gets....
    In the garage: 2013 CC 4Motion, 2007 Touareg VR6

had the exact same problem last year, turned out to be a bent wheel luckily we have got full size spares. when to see if it could be repaired but a little too far bent/gone so know it sits in my trunk still driveable but shakes a little above 60 mph
