what exactly is the problem you are having. looking at the diagrams it does not go directly to ground.

Hello i started to troubleshoot my vr swap buy testing main grounds on the ecu connector.
Theyre all good except for 33. This is for the engine senors, tps, knock 1&2, ect, and iat.
I have continuity from all of the sensors to pin 33. But none are grounding.
Where is it supposed to be grounded at? On the head with the other grounds? I don't see any more wires to ground on the engine harness.
Fyi i have an obd1 harness with distributor. Passat i believe. Thanks![]()

Starts with poor idle, and stalls out after few seconds.
I think i have a fuel problem, but also wanted check my grounds because the throttle body was not making the buzzing sound that it should.
My diagrams show that pin 33 and tps, iat, knock and ect sensors are connected to "ground connection in MFI wiring harness".
And what makes me think it would have to be grounded is the ecm testing list in my bentley, that says i should be getting 12v between 33 and 54.
Is it be a ground controlled by the ecu? If it is, then my book is wrong, and i shouldn't get that voltage without the ecu plugged in.

Did you check grounds on back of head? Clean other grounds? Good body ground?

Yes everything is grounded okay.
Basically what i need to know is where exactly the MFI harness grounds to the car. Or if it supposed to at all.
None of my grounding points are connected to that MFI harness, so im thinking i somehow lost that ground in re wrapping the harness..

Lol did some extensive searching and found that you actually said that pin 33 grounds to the head.
Can anyone confirm that pin 33 is just a normal body ground?
Id hate to ground it, and blow something up haha.![]()
