So my brakes are gone, life goes on. But my car does not, so can anyone point me in the direction to where I can find a DIY or some information on replacing front and rear disc rotors and pads for a 2001 Vw Jetta VR6. I seem to be running into a problem with some sort of clips? Help would be great.

You don't need a Bentley Repair manual just to do brakes.

Are the 'clips' you refer to the retaining springs on the front of the caliper? If so just pry them off with a flathead screwdriver.

It's not just for the brakes it will solve most of the basic question you need to ask. That's why you get one

And I have for every VW I've owned, and I've owned this one for about 6 months and just catching up on repairs the previous owner didn't do. Havent had the cash for one yet..they are kinda costly. But never fear, I will be getting one.
