Driving a modern Subaru is like driving a Sherman Tank with a plexi glass body. The underpinnings, drive-train, motor etc.. is all Rock Solid. It's the body and interior that still feels like it was made by Fisher Price.

The good news is that Subaru tech is still light years behind the rest of the industry save for Mitsu, Suzuki and Subaru's new "Eye Sight" system. This means there is less gadgetry to go wrong down the road. And because the interiors are mostly hard-plastic they resist the abuse my two small boys throw at them daily.

Or how about I would buy brand X, but they don't offer; 5-door wagon thingy, with mad stance, diesel-hybrid, 10-speed "Manual" 70 mpg (Because 25 mpg is killing me on my 2.5 mile commute) 7-pass seating be able to handle HPDE's and Auto-X weekends, 50/50 weight distribution, less than 2500 lbs, Camcord reliability, Lexus service dept, Tacoma resale value etc... and on and on…

Funny, because the doors on my '12 Outback have a nice and solid feel to them when opened and closed.

I would get a Subaru Forester, but they still have 4-speed automatics and manuals are harder to find than dodos.

Porsche, but can't afford to fix it.
BMW, but can't afford to fix it.
Audi, but can't afford to fix it.
Subaru, but 4AT and longevity issues.

Your signature made me laugh out loud. The VW in my house is 3rd of three for "fun to drive."

      Death trap over 50?

I would buy a Ford (Focus ST) but worried about not only reliability but Ford's response to issues. Wasn't reassured with the Mustang manual trans issues and Ford's response.

No, my gaydar is just that good.

And if you actually read the post I was quoting, you'd realize that neither VW or Audi was mentioned--it was actually MB. Moron

I would buy a new VAG product if it didn't come with that God awful 2.5L oversized gas guzzling pig of an engine, and overpriced diesel.
      Easy like Sunday Morning.

If you find a curve and floor it, the understeer trying to taking you straight off road would be 'exciting'.

And this comes from the previous owner of a 2.0T Sportwagen and a TDI '10 Golf.

I'd buy a Kia Forte Koup, but it's a Kia.

I would get a Hyundai, but the angry alien interiors and dashboards put me off.

Actually, I think the Outback is the most sturdiest feel when you close the doors. Forgot about that one. When I went to the dealer I jumped in a few Subies, but they didn't have an Outback there at the time.

Hopefully you don't have any of those steering wheel shake issues..........

I'd buy a Mazda RX-8, but there are no complete LS1 swap kits available yet.

I would buy a 8th or 9th gen Honda Civic Si, but I hate the horrible visibility, the giant A pillars, the horrible rear visibility due to the huge rear headrests and small rear window.
