I have received many PMs regarding the R32 front bumper on my GLI and I decided that I would just review the product for future reference.

I did a lot of reading around between the MkIV and MkV forums before making the purchase and I am happy that I did. I found the bumper on eBay through the seller eurosportgarage. They are a top rated seller. HERE is the link to the product (link may change with time due to eBay) for $499.99 with free shipping.

The bumper itself is made by Konzept Automobiltechnik. Konzept specializes in many styling parts for Volkswagen, Audi, and BMW. Some of their products are originals and some are replicas. The biggest perk of this bumper and of many of their products, is that they use a plastic that is very similar (if not the same) as the OEM material. This means the quality is the same as OEM. Also, this bumper is a European replica so this means no side markers. The bumper comes with:

    - bumper cover
    - gloss black replica main grille
    - .:R32 grille badge
    - NO VW EMBLEM (will need to purchase a R32 VW emblem)
    - two OEM looking vent grilles
    - headlight washer caps

All paintable areas come in primer and ready to paint. It ships via Greyhound and took about a week to come to me in Pennsylvania (they ship from California). It came very well packaged and took me about a half hour to unpack it.

I did a test fitment before sending it to paint. I did it by myself and could have used a hand. It fits a little tight, but there are no gaps anywhere. There was only two places that were a little hard to line up. These were where the top of the bumper and grille screw to the radiator support. No major work to get it to line up, just some finagling.

After paint, I mounted it. I used R32 fog light grilles made by GRID Motorsports instead of the provided grilles. Here is some info on these grilles:

    - Link to product
    - Link to product review (PLEASE READ)

The OEM aluminum R32 grille also fits this bumper cover with no fitment issues. If your vehicle has headlight washers installed (GLI/GTI 2006 and R32 2008) then the provided washer caps will clip right onto the washers. If your vehicle does not have the washers, you have three options:

    - epoxy the cap to the bumper
    - buy the headlight washer arms and jets and mount them to bumper
    - shave the entire molding

I tried the epoxy first and it did not last. I lost one cap and had to buy another. For reference, the OEM caps will fit this replica bumper (1K6-955-110-B-GRU and 1K6-955-109-B-GRU). I then purchased the washer arms and jets used and fitted them to the bumper. This has yielded the best results.

Since installation, I have had no issues with the bumper cover at all and I love it and the way it looks. This is definitely a quality product and I would buy again (and just may for the wife's R32). I will leave you with some photos. Thank you for reading.

thanks for the info. i was qondering about this as well. my grille should be coming in some time later this week and im going to be needing a bumper. I was super iffy about using aftermarket reps, but i was already planning on doing some work to shave some things.

do you have an email or phone number to contact them? I need just the bumper and lower grilles. Not the main grille. Or you wanna sell me the grilles that it came with?? pm me.

Even after reading reviews of their other products, I was still nervous that the quality would be bad. When I got it and felt it, I was so relieved. It honestly feels like an OEM bumper. I bought a replica Votex lip for my old Jetta bumper and that plastic was garbage. I don't know how they can afford to make something so similar to OEM and sell it with other components for less than the OEM bumper. But I am not complaining. I will probably be buying another one for my wife's R32 so it can also have the Euro look. Hers has some scuffs underneath that I'd like to get rid of and there is no way I am buying an OEM bumper.

Either the R32 classifieds, a Volkswagen dealer, or any other OEM retailer (ESC, ESE, TMTuning...).

The OEM part number is 1K0-853-651-R-3Q7 and the MSRP is $795.00.

Just contact the seller with your make, model and year and they should give an answer.

Did you only need the actual emblem (like this: ECS Emblem), or did you need the insert that the emblem mounts to as well?

Good question I don't get the bumper till Friday and its being shipped to my body shop.. But I think its just the emblem like you linked above. I couldn't see why the emblem mounts would be necessary. I'll let you know when I get a look at the bumper in person.
