Leave it 100% stock. Why bother putting expensive sprinkles on your oatmeal? It's still gonna be oatmeal.

My Grandma is looking for a new car and in the event that she actually picks one I will be the recipient of her Camry.
It's a 2.2 auto 119,000 miles should last me till I'm out of college at least.
My question to the car lounge is.
Leave it 100% stock minus a CD player with AUX/USB?
OR slowly go the OEM+ route with Lexus wheels or other toyota wheels with better offset, a TRD lip spoiler, skirts and a slight drop?
I'm leaning towards the rock it stock option because I'm in school and should focus on other things but I just can't not personalize it a little bit.

Don't waste your money, you could do better things with it while you are in college, or keep it in a maintenance fund... Drive the Camry stock, it will probably last you another decade anyways

Keep it stock. I'm a college student too and I have a hard time fighting the urge especially bc I just started auto-x, but having money for other things is so much nicer. Plus its a Camry. However, if you live at home and have room for 2 cars, I would use it as an excuse to buy a project.

Truth is spoken in the car lounge. I'm keeping it stock.
I currently drive an f250 on 37's love and hate it. I put it up for sale a week before I found out about my Gma's plans, so its a welcome surprise.
Either I'll keep my ridiculous Bro-dozer or sell it to pay off some bills and rock the stock till I'm out of school.

Just make sure you keep it in good running condition. It will never die and always come in handy as the once in a while beater vehicle.

I had a Camry in college, spent lots of $$$ on a nice stereo, wheels, lowered it, put in leather from an ES300, etc. Finally had it paid off when the odometer hit around 110k. About a week later it was stolen. I know, CSB. Keep it stock, at the end of the day it's still a Camry.

It's a Camry, leave it stock, spend your money on more important things, like oxycodone and xanax.

You can still autocross a stock automatic Camry, and you'll have just as much fun as you would in it modified. Leave it stock, put a nice head unit in it - even the stock speakers (6.5's in the front doors and 6x9's in the rear deck) make for solid potential for bass response with decent head unit power to them.
The 2.2 auto just sucks for anything else. 134hp with a 4spd automatic is adequate, and nothing more. It actually doesn't even make for good gas mileage because the drivetrain is just barely enough for this car, and the engine's just generally trying too hard.
It will last forever, though, and it's a pretty quiet and comfy cruiser. I got my first speeding ticket in a '99 2.2/auto Camry because it's easy to speed in without realizing it.

Sell the brodozer. Drive the camry. When your done college, sell the camry PIECE by PIECE. Make presumably quite a bit of $ , probably more than if you sold it whole (otherwise why bother?) Then buy a "nice" car

Don't go to college and take that money and mod the Camry. Get some hookers and blow too.![]()

I would leave it stock except for putting on some good tires and maybe upgrading the suspension (if the current suspension is shot).
You are never going to make it cool, but you can at least massage better handling out of the relatively light sedan.

Not to worry its already got the mandatory dented bumper.
She put new struts in about 6 months ago and insists that she have her timing belt and water pump replaced before she gives it to me. I told her not to worry about it and I'll pay for it. Best Gma ever.
She's 81 and in no way shape or form a GILF, just a rad Grandma.

Sell both cars and get something that offers a good combo of fun, safety, and low running costs.
