I have been receiving PM's from many of you, and I can finally say that Stage 2 testing for North American Golf R's is underway! We will also be testing the limits of the stock fuel system, which has been providing adequate fuel for increased boost levels during our early testing. I will provide updates as they become available!

    Thomas,

Great to hear. Just waiting for my downpipe to be shipped and then will be ready for the stage 2 flash. Hopefully, the testing will show the stock fuel pump to be adequate. Will await your test results.

Well, I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the Golf R is making tremendous power gains. The bad news is...we need more fuel!

    John,

The fuel pump is going in today, and then it will be back to the dyno for testing. In another note of good news, this customer just ordered a Loba L0380 turbo. Exciting updates for the Golf R coming very soon!

    Thomas,

Why did the customer decide on that turbo???
I think I read somewhere in the Audi forums that is can only do like 20hp more than the stock turbo can...
Even if it can do 50hp more, wouldn't that be pretty pointless?

speaking of Australia, I keep reading they are running GIAC Extreme file with RS4 valve and some fueling tricks.

    You mean RS4 injectors?
Hummm... How about when APR posted the 10 second 1/4 mile run, which I think, was used to
indirectly poke fun of the 'RS4 injectors and fueling tricks' that you keep reading about, since APR
claimed, IN CAPS, IIRC, that 'stock injectors' were used in that car that made that crazy fast run.

Australia has some of the fastest street cars in the world. I'd venture to say they are right up there with the U.S in a lot of platforms. They know what they are doing "down under!" haha.

    no, RS4 FRV.

You're way off base, but you're right that APR did perform those times with the OEM injectors. The tip is the RS4 FRV has a different cracking pressure, perhaps that running a higher rail pressure allows a bit more juice out of the S3 injectors.

How is testing coming along, and what is your best estimate for the new flash to hit the streets.

Very well, we were pleasantly surprised with the amount of power that the R is putting down. The new flash should be available within the next month!

The nearest GIAC dealer charges $100 in labor for any flashes...

Should prove interesting this. I'm eager to try this stage 2 map before going with the Loba L04XX turbo. My understanding is that the torque limiter is switched off at stage 1, would this be the case with stage 2 as I am running a DSG Golf R.

What kind of power gains are you looking at over stage 1 ?

I can't comment on power gains yet, but increasing torque limitations would be done through our DSG transmission flash. While this isn't so much of an issue with 6-speed cars, DSG cars greatly benefit from the increased torque capacity of the transmission flash (most notable on K04 vehicles).

  35. 10-19-2012 07:29 PM #35
I already have a DSG flash on the Golf R and with the GIAC map I already have on the car I'm already over 350lbft of torque. I was just wondering if I would get further power and torque gains?
