How old are your plugs? I don't know if that is a great start but its a start.

About a week ago I turned on my 2.5 Rabbit and found it idled very rough. Seemed like a cylinder was misfiring. Stepped gently on the throttle and it went away. Since then I've noticed what feels like a misfire under acceleration, especially when cold, and an occasional "popping" noise when I let off on the throttle. I'm also had a 2+ mpg decrease in fuel economy. Any ideas where to start?

They're original. Everything is original on the car but the rear brakes and two sets of wheel bearings. I've got 85k on it and have never had an issue (well, not since a defective clutch plate tore up the transmission at about 3k).
I took it in to my mechanic today and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. It has smoothed out quite a bit since I refilled it, actually, and I'm wondering if I just had a bad batch of gas. Think I'll add a bottle of fuel-injector cleaner and see what happens.

You need to go maintain your car. Fuel filter, plugs, coils, air filter etc...fix it by doing the needed work
