    Maybe there is a way to run a bolt through it that has a smooth shoulder or sleeve so it doesn't scuff the plastic when it pops in and out of place. Then tighten a nut on the other end to keep it snug.

    Yeah thinking a pin, screw, or bolt and rig something up. $225 on Keffer parts.

    4$ tube of epoxy mix should fix that.

    drill out both side, put in a pin size of drill and glue with epoxy for plastic/metal.

    Sounds like a winner there. You get a pin holding it & the epoxy keeping it together.
    DEFINITELY not worth 225 to get a new one!

    What caused it to break, by the way? Did you put too much load on it, or did the nipple just get hit on something?

    10 bucks for another one from the wreckers. That worked for me .

    Yeah do this. The dongle on the hatch door that holds the parcel shelf string in place snapped off on my GTI. On my next service I mentioned it to the dealer and thye replaced it no questions asked.
