MDX, Enclave, XC90 would be my choices.

Ensure whatever you purchase that it fits at least one large sheep in the cargo area, though.

And I'll gladly say it again for making less efficient SUV's their new makeshift station wagons, all because they generally believe they're safer in poorer handling vehicles that are more likely to rollover and stop at longer distances too, in most cases. Is that really safe?

That's your argument? That could be any vehicle with a driver that can't handle the conditions. It's based on the Titan truck but even if it was based on the Frontier so what?

1 year ago, we bought a 2008 MB GL320 CDI. I picked it out for her because:

    1. Tow Capacity/Mileage - It is able to haul her horse trailer ~5000lbs loaded. Gets reasonable mileage like 28 mpg @ 60mph no trialer and mid - upper teens with trailer. She has hauled at least a dozen times long distances and loves how it performs.

    2. AWD for winter driving since we get a good amount of snow.

    3. Comfort/Performance (Suitable for me to drive too) - I hated to drive her old minivan. We use this vehicle for vacation road trips because of comfort and utility. I put it on par with my Volvo V70R for comfort.

    4. Quality/Reliability - Not a single issue to date

She has already told me that when it is time to replace this, she will want the newer model.
I don't think you can get into a GL CDI for under 30K but maybe a ML or a GL450 (gas version).

    Super serious stuff.

Not an argument. But it's actually based on the F-Alpha platform. I stand by the Frontier statement.

The F-Alpha is an automobile platform from Nissan Motor Company which is used in their trucks and SUV's. The latest version of the platform is the basis for the Nissan Frontier and Titan pickup trucks as well as the Nissan Xterra, Pathfinder, Armada and Infiniti QX56 SUVs. A modified version of this platform is also used for the Suzuki Equator. This platform can be configured with an independent suspension or solid axle suspension arrangement as well as larger engines, some with variable valve timing.

HAHA HAHA HA!! Not quite. The soft touch wears awfully, it's not reliable, the newest ones are seven years old, very complicated air suspension, etc, etc. I could go on but this is not the vehicle for his wife.

I love mine but I'm crazy like that.

So by that you could say the Frontier is based on the Titan/Armada.

No other SUV in the world would have had a different outcome when impacted by at semi at those speeds. I think you were just looking for an excuse to post that very morbid video.

On any case, it sounds to me like the OP enjoy the Land Rover minus the reliability issues. If that's the case a GX470 might suit him well and might make the lady very happy.

More along the lines of "don't v-tech or you could dead".

That video made a lot of people think the Navara was unsafe. And wrongfully so.

Yep. The reason multilane highways like that are divided (or better divided) here is due to the inherent danger when **** happens and you end up being hit by 30 tonnes traveling at 100km/h in the opposite direction.

Again with the makeshift station wagons. What does that mean?

all because they generally believe they're safer in poorer handling vehicles that are more likely to rollover and stop at longer distances too, in most cases. Is that really safe?
You have no evidence to back up this claim. You're just making things up.

In fact I have another sister in law who learned the hard way how a QX4 was a waste of metal, not to mention $$$$$ too, to haul her kids around in, and reverted back to a minivan Go figure.
A Dodge Caravan was unacceptable in your first post, but now minivans are ok?

Every time I see one of these there is woman behind the wheel. In fact, more often than not I spot women in the drivers seats of Land Rovers.

Automakers have nailed the demographic for trophy wives- luxury 4x4s.

I always pictured silly in a Land Cruiser, pining for the fjords...
"What's that loud, boring sound you'll hear when I stop talking?"
    "It's an albino humping worm!"
"Why do they call it that?"
"Because it doesn't have any pigment."

Here's how it works for us. I have always had either a sports car a sporty car or an old man's car (in that order ) while wifey always had the more practical grocery getter/road trip car. Something with a swing style back be it an SUV or hatchback. Since I didn't particularly care to drive them and she didn't care what she drove it works great. She gets the boring comfy ride while I only need to mess with it doing 'manly chores' of hauling crap, light offroad, etc. It really is helpful having something around that can tow a trailer, carry a dishwasher, and have awd/4x4, it just isn't realy fun to drive everyday. So for me, it's a was win win, I had an SUV without having to drive the SUV!

Land Rover owners who defect to Land Cruiser ownership are W.I.M.Ps (Wisdom...inspired...motor people?)

We all look at Land Cruiser owners in disgust, but secretly we want to be driving alongside them, rather than looking at our christmas tree of an instrument panel, while being hoisted on to a flat bed tow truck.

Dodge reports that women purchase nearly half of the 120,000 Dodge Durango SUVs it sells each year. They are buyers such as Nancy Freed of San Diego, who traded in her minivan for a Durango.

“ I needed something larger for the kids and all the sports equipment and friends they want me to haul around,” Freed said. “It also feels safer to be in a bigger car.
Surveys and studies reveal that women purchase SUVs because they consider them fun and safe to drive.
