So I have be eagerly awaiting chipping my 2007 GTI. After 38k VERY pampered miles I finally pulled the trigger yesterday. No more than 2 miles from the shop I notice very apparent clutch slip in 4th,5th, and 6th gears, usually between 3/4 and WOT. I'm frustrated to say the least. I wasn't planning on shelling out another $1500 on a performance clutch and labor. How common is it for a clutch to start this after not even 40k miles? I've heard of this on Stage II cars but never on Stage I, let alone RIGHT after getting the tune. Any suggestions or help would be very appreciated.

Are you certain this is clutch slippage and not the infamous fuel cuts that the FSI engine is know for? It tends to happen in the range you described although also usually only Stage 2 and above I believe.

Thanks for you reply but I'm not sure why everyone keeps mentioning fuel cut. From my understanding, fuel cut is a very sudden and abrupt "cut", almost like you just slammed on the brakes for a split second. Also, if it was fuel cut, wouldn't my RPMs go down and not suddenly up? Please let me know if I am wrong. Otherwise, I'll look into the fuel pump issue.
