Thread: Misfire Issues

  1. 10-12-2012 11:48 AM #1
    Hi guys,

Last week my car started bogging down on start up then it would go away as I drove. Then a few days ago I decided to check the codes and got P0300 (Random Misfire), P0302 (Misfire Cyl 2) & P0304 (Misfire Cyl 4).

I replaced all the spark plugs and coil packs with new ones now I throw all the same codes plus a misfire for Cyl 1!

Any idea where I should aim next?

BTW: Its a 2001 A4 1.8T Quattro, I believe it does not have an ICM

Cleaned the MAF today and did a boost leak test and still nothing has changed.

It seems to idle fine now, when I touch the gas while driving it will bog.

    Need help guys!

    check your evap crankcase hoses
Any VWs made after 92 are usually only good for drive train donors.

From what I understand the 2001 doesn't have an ICM

Is there a diagram around for the hoses? Not really sure what's what

    demonmk2 was right.

I took it to a mechanic and got them to check the PCV system and it was a valve that they had to replace....also ended up that my MAF was on its way out too
