Is it wrong that I aspire to own one of these just as much as I do an M5 or 911?

The SRT-8 could only be called the king of the road because it's 40k cheaper than the X5M.
If the prices were the same, the X5M would DOMINATE on sales.

So, in other words, the X5M is slower than the SRT8 performance wise?

I understand why it might seem that way but IME they are still more fun to drive than most other cars at their price point(s).

The ownership experience might be lacking if you get a 'bad' one but no other manufacturer makes it easier to just jump in the car and start having fun. Engines and transmissions are perhaps the most engaging at any price and cabin tech is simple and comprehensive.

Compared to the X5, I'd gladly pay the premium for the Beemer. It's like the age old Mustang vs. everything else argument, really.

It might not be faster 0-60 but it will be faster around any track.

Should have just made an ///M5 Touring version instead. As much as I like SUV's, fast driving, etc, owning a really fast one is not something I would buy.

X5M has faster 0-60 times and lap times. By quite a good margin.

Awesome! A giant, fat SUV hammering around the Ring with a great exhaust note.
