Cabrio Truck Concept

So please bear with me on this one. Just sitting at work a little bored and thinking about my infatuation with turning any and every VW into a pickup truck and i thought wow the solution is right in front of my face. I own a 97 cabrio and i realized that half the work for a pickup truck is already done for me. And the extra reinforcements from the factory can't hurt so here is my little doodle i did up real quick in MS Paint. Though the bed is a little shorter than i'd like but albeit it is a pickup truck for all intents and purpose.
What are some of your opinions and concerns. I'm very interested to kind of brainstorm this one out. is there enough support in the body to hold its sides up with out welding steel reinforcement every which way in the back of the "Bed"...............and......go!

I've had that thought as well, well more to cover the driver and passenger sections of the cabby but with cloth like material just to block the full force of the sun when the top is down, figure you get more breeze and flow through that way. I'll probably start working on a concept in a few months so that I have something for the spring

ok i see do like a bikini top. I'm thinking more like a full on truck bed. no seats in rear. full truck bed rhino lined and completely closed off cabin with no wind noise and soft top for a removable hard top Originally Posted by slade1121k
