Screws up? They wrote on a part of the car that will never be seen. Ever. Just wipe it off and stop ****ing complaining.

Some people write their own name on bathroom walls, or carve stupid little pictures or jokes for others to enjoy.

People are weird occasionally. I would do nothing, clean it off... and never... ever go back to that oil change shop.

At least it wasn't one of the usual "left a quickie lube place, 10 blocks later my engine seized" stories.

The point about the oil level on the dipstick makes me wonder, how does the OP know they put in 5 qts of oil? Was the level too high on the stick, or was he simply charged for 5 quarts of oil?

If he was charged for 5 quarts of oil, I'd guess it has something to do with oil being sold by the quart. You can't cut a bottle of oil in two and only buy one half. And I doubt Midas has full synthetic 5w40 in their bulk oil pump.
    Deal with it.

What principle? The tech didn't do anything wrong or damage the op's car. Look at most modern cars and you will find that same paint on nuts and bolts put there by the factory. Should we be mad at the factory now as well? Or maybe I should have yelled at the tech who did the timing belt and water pump on my last TDi and marked the block with the date and mileage the belt was done.

The last time I had my former 968 worked on, RS Barn (968 specialist) marked my oil filter with that same paint. Maybe I should have yelled at them as well.

I don't give a **** about the writing on the oil pan. I wouldn't give a **** if they did that. For the second time, it's the "it's not a Ferrari" remark.

For the third time, it's the implication of whoever I originally quoted, that an expensive car is somehow more worthy of getting upset. I disagree. You all missed the ****ing point.

It is about the principle of implying or supporting treating someone's car differently based solely on MSRP and not say, just respecting someone else's ****. IE, implying getting upset if a Ferrari came back with a painted pan vs a whatever the OP has. What's the difference?

Again, to reiterate, because you all seem to be MTFP, I personally wouldn't get upset about the oil pan marks. Do I need to reiterate again?

    this is really golden fah

but its still not as funny as the posters who blame the op for taking their car to a auto shop
and themselves bring their own 10 year old car to a valet service and cry when their car is
being hooned. whats the difference? who will see the writing and the hoonage when its not a ferrari? q

I just think peoples property should be respected when they are left in your care. I dont really care if its a Ferrari or Cavalier, if you leave it at the valet or mechanic they should treat it w respect. Maybe writting on the oil pan is not a big deal to you, but maybe it is to OP. Maybe you left your 10yr old EVO at the Valet and they drove it like their stole it. Sure, Evos and other cars of that nature are ment to be driven BY THEIR OWNER, not somebody they paid to take care of it.

Sorry, maybe its just me and my craziness, but i think thats how it should be.

Do yourself a favor and use a Passat/A4 oil filter. It's bigger and will actually change the capacity to a square 5 quarts.

Because if you care about that stuff so much, you are a moron for bringing it to Midas in the first place, which negates your complaint.
