Looks like when I close the door with the handle (from the inside) pulled the sound goes away as well. It might be the lock that's causing this issue. Not sure, investigating this further.

When I close any of my two front doors (driver and/or passenger) the door makes a rattle sound...almost sounds like the door is empty with some metal clip rattling does not sound solid like the rear doors. The weird part is, if I lower my window even a bit (like literally 2 mm) the sound goes away
The rattle sound is coming from where the door meets the B-Pillar at the bottom, so where the window starts right around where the security light is. I know some ppl are having an issue with the security light housing arm but this happens on the passenger side as well and it does not have a security light. Besides, as mentioned, the problem goes away when you lower the window by any amount.
Anyone have any idea what's going on?

My '12 TDI does this also on the drivers door... basically only does it when it's shut, and you hear a "duh, duh, duh, duh" rapid sound (almost "spring" like (IE: like a spring doorstop (in a house) being "strummed"....) I'm going to take it in soon for the 10K service and will bring it up (also my headliner is starting to sag in the middle back about 1/4-1/2" inch... I think a clip has popped).
Since it doesn't do it while driving, it doesn't bother me enough to make a special trip, but I want it in before the 12/12K "rattle and adjustments" warranty is done.

Hey pinkertonfloyd,
so I figured it out, It is the Window actuator cable. When you close the door the cable moves around and rattles. Have VW secure the cable or put some padding on it, depending on how much they apply the problem will either go away all together or mute it to a point you can hardly notice. Hope this helps!
