    The tires ARE too big when compared to the OE 18s. The Beetle combo is 26.4 inches in diameter while the GLI's are 25.1. The 19s revolve 764 times per mile while the 18s do 804 revs. This cause a 5% reduction that will definately affect the speedo, odo, and most likely the ABS system. 225/35-18 would be a better match for the OE size.

    Insignificant as long as all four are the same size, or at the minimum, the same size per axle.

    225/35-19 would be a better match for the OE size.

    Exactly. I used the mathematical calculations to illustrate that. And while 5% on the surface is not that great it IS significant enough to cause errors. Serious? Not really, but going to an aspect ratio that much greater will and that's the point I was making.

    FWIW, I do like the wheels on the GLI
