Has anyone done this yet and successfully lined it up? There aren't any dimples on this car to guide the screws and I would be curious on how you have measured and gotten it on straight.

BTW, I'm a perfectionist when it comes to things like this.

      Thanks,

      aaron

I had the dealer do mine... They might not if it is not required by law(which in my state its not) but I have a really good dealer. As long as you are still under 30,000 miles, they most likely will do it for you during your service.

I'm a perfectionist with OCD and I left it off. Actually had it written into the PO that they were to NOT install it.

If you must install it though (again I didn't and it's a law here to have one displayed up front) then find the centerline under the VW crest and use a chalk line to mark center. Then line up the plate and marker the holes to drill.

Let me rephrase: they won't do it for free... Probably because they just don't want to do the work?

I meant why ruin the front end aesthetics of your vehicle by installing a front plate when not required by law?

I hear ya. I am not inclined to do it, but our state requires it. I have actually received a ticket while parked for not having on installed on my Mini. So, I went a found a euro-style plate with my numbers and my state flag on it. It should do the trick and because the euro-plate is slimmer than the US ones, it looks much better.

Clutchrider, thank you for your insight. If I don't get any other responses, this is likely going to be the way I will do it.

If there is anyone who has done it then please chime in on your experience.
