Those tail lights look rather large in person.

Immediate reaction: new Porsche look works much better for Cayman than for Boxster.

Looks less awkward than the old one.

For real world driving, why would anyone get a 911? You can have a Cayman S that's point-to-point just as fast for the average driver and its less money. Especially now since it's much better looking!

I like it - especially that they did away with the weird kink in the rear hatch where the bottom of the window and top of the "trunk" were inset.

But... I can't help but think the back looks a bit like a squished new-new Beetle when I squint.

I'm sure it's great to drive but I still find the 911 about 100x more attractive.

    You need glasses.

I'm liking it. It looks much less feminine that the old one and not as squatty looking as the Boxster.

I agree. Now that the Cayman S has 325 hp yet still weighs only 3,000 lbs should put it near 997 C2S performance territory. Of course, my fantasy of dropping off my kid at daycare in a Porsche wouldn't quite work as well in a 2-seater Cayman.

I prefer the new Boxster but I'm also a convertible guy.

Looks good though. Hard to justify the 911 at it's stratospheric prices, IMO.

I'm just saying, in real world driving situations you don't really need the extra power. A Cayman is already license-losing fast.

I also wonder how many 911 buyers buy it because it has rear seats.

You laugh, but for some it's important. It's nice that Porsche gives the choice, especially for short buyers for whom the rear seats might actually be useful.

More than you think. Peruse some 911 boards and you'll be surprised to see how big a factor that extra little bit of utility is to some people. I had a 987 Cayman S and now a 991 911. Love(d) both of them, and really like the look of the 981 Cayman/Boxster too.

I like it, but the back end does look a bit off. Too much ass or something... the previous Cayman had a very slim rear.

Seriously, adult human beings, even short ones, cannot fit in the back of a 991. Children can, and then only just.

i like the styling they've done with some sharper lines incorporated from the boxster. would be seriously happy to get one of these or the new boxster as a next car

your neighbor/mistress/wife/boss/friend is more impressed if you drive a 911. Don't hate...but there is a % of porsche buyers that think about that.

    How's the old one awkward?

You can call it boring, or feminine or a poor man's 911, but I honestly don't know how you could call it awkard.

    Simple clean timeless lines throughout.

The Cayman has always been more attractive than the Boxster to my eyes, but this... I really, really love this.
