2012 did not have the orange ESC in the MFD. 2013 does.
all 2012/2013 canadian golf R are kessy

Is it done via VCDS, since we know it requires the cable itself?

One part of me hopes that he won't be charging for this since it's an AWESOME way to give back to the community, but it would also be a great gesture from our side to donate to the guy.

I have a full non-ebay version Ross-Tech cable so once the instructions on how to do this go out, I'm offering to do it for anyone in my area that want's it done and doesn't have the cable!
