Just a quick question here...so does that mean that our buttons work like the ROW cars where you hold it for the 3 seconds or so? I would like to do this if I get the info but I do not have a VCDS to do it with so maybe someone here in the CHicgao area can helo me out...or even a couple of those close by in the great land of cheese....

OK so now I am confused. I thought with the ROW cars it came on when u pushed the brakes?
Or does it need an emergency brake input ( stomping on the brakes) to turn back on?

Ya. I have a Canadian r and have yet to have it kick back in. Just doing some gentle parking lot stunts. I think its pretty smart and have no doubt that if you were really in trouble it would override.

Trust me, it works. I have been here since 2004, and never lied or cheated anyone, and he got my car to defeat it, so email him your vin and abs module scan to save time.

^ Oh no, I'm not saying its a hoax, or goof. It's just how many threads have came up in the last year claiming ESP defeat! If its true I'm gonna get a Golf R over the Focus ST then for a personal car.

The fix was already known just wouldn't/couldn't be shared with the rest of us. It was also supposed to be fairly simple. Which begs the question of why did VW chose to do it.

The description clearly states it is only turned on WHILE ON THE BRAKES and then turns back off when the car is stable again. That's why you don't see the light turn off and have to manually turn ESC back off again.

This is great thinking since most peoples' first reaction to any "oh ****" moment is to slam on the brakes.

Exactly, I rather have the car correct my drift/slide and let go of the brake. It doesn't re-enable, it just corrects you under braking which I have no problem with. Since when would you not want your rear end to kick back straight again when sliding sideways out of control while hitting the brakes...

    All,

The owner of doTuning has just informed me he has had a serious amount of emails come through tonight, and follow the instruction so solution can be made for all! attach a VCDS scan of the ABS module along with your VIN when emailing(all VIN numbers are kept confidential!!!) and your cars options(2/4door 6mt/dsg, kessy, etc.) i know dsg...some ROW dont have esp defeat that are DSG

I keep my temp in C so I can compare ambient to VCDS without doing mental math. Also, it can be changed via MFD so I doubt that is related to this.
