Thread: "I Hate it, and I can't really give a good reason why"

This thread is for those cars that you've driven and hated, but can't objectively express why you hate them. For those cars that irk your very soul for no good reason.

For me, that would be 4 door E46's. I've driven E30's and E36's and loved them dearly, but not only do I not like the E46 sedan I drove, I also think its really unattractive. And I can't actually point to any particular design flaw or cue, but I just hate them.

The other one is one I bought brand new.

Mine was a black CE. It drove perfectly adequate, but I hated seeing it in my driveway everyday, and I can't put my finger on why. I mean, it was boring, but I've had plenty of boring cars that I liked more that didn't perform as well as this car did. What I hated most was the automatic and the lack of legroom in the front. My wife loved it, but it fit her just fine.

What cars bring out the irrational hate in you?

It's so ugly because it has like 4 body lines on each side of it that all run in different directions. I'm not a fan either, I think they look terrible. They cleaned it up a bit in the 330ci, and the M3 is a LOT better. It's almost as if they made the M3 first, and then kept adding lines until the 3 series was dumbed down enough

Hmm. My stepson got an E46 325i Sport 4 door from his dad. 220k on it and it was in parfect shape other than rear window regulators. I loved driving that car. The Sport models better seats and suspension made it a joy to drive fast. I almost bought it from him when he went to trade it in on his STi, the 4 door being so much more practical than the Mustang.

I love cars, but the problem is they are like schroedinger's hobby. They're always in a quantum superstate of being both awesome and a huge waste of time and money... until observation momentarily forces them into one state or another.

I don't "hate" my GTI, but I don't really like it very much, despite it fitting my needs well and not being a bad car in most objective measures.

There's just something about those taillights I can't stand. Reminds me of a German Civic or something. LCI was much improved

For me I saw more similarity in the previous generations, but yes, I remember noticing Honda and BMW sharing some cues around that time period

The pre-facelift MKV Quattroporte. Just didn't look good from most angles. Interior was nice and the engine was orgasmic with the right exhaust, however

I was going to say Fiat 500 but then I realized I could list like 10 things I hate about that car. I just don't get why anyone likes them, other than the fact that they are sort of cute to look at while parked.

So my vote is Honda CRV. Had one for a week. Really couldn't stand it at all. Actually made me depressed driving it. But there is nothing really wrong with it, per se.

Some of us like small cars, especially small cars that are fun to drive, and make good noises, which the 500 does in all it's forms. It's stylish and not just a penalty box on wheels.

And evosky? Why the Clubman S? Or are you just saying MINIs?

mk3 Golf - test driven in 1994 - hated it. Ended up buying a brand new Probe GT instead.

I like plenty of small cars but I didn't find the 500 very fun to drive. I've driven the base and the Abarth. Miata is fun to drive. Alfa Spider is fun to drive. Not a fan of FWD, but I even found the Honda Fit Sport to be kind of fun. GTI, too. 500, not so much. IMO.

I think to some people, it's the demographic of people who drive these cars that Turn them away:

    Audi/BMW: Broski Douchbags
    Buick/Mercedes: Old people
Pontiac: Hilbily - Low income Redneck
    Volvo: Hippies

    And so on
    Easy like Sunday Morning.

Hate these. Never driven one. Used to walk by a Honda dealer to/from the bus each day...this was the only car on the lot that made me cranky just looking at it. They are so counter to the original engineering ethos that built Honda into an extraordinary company...ugh.

These are just stupid. 5000lbs, not quick unless equipped with a V8, clumsy to drive, poor rear ingress and terrible cargo space. What was the point, BMW? Awful.

These, especially in yellow. I appreciate GM trying to do something different...but why this? It looks cartoonishly ugly. It offers minimal practicality. Built on an old truck chassis so it doesn't drive well. Fail on all counts.

The new Clubman just pisses me off. The proportions are weird, the mini rear doors are whack, the two wiper blades in the back look like they're trying too hard, I dunno. Then you add the people who drive them who think they're cool with a Mini, and I just say

I used to as well but a friend just bought an Abarth 500 and it is suprisingly quick, comfortable, makes an amazingly good noise (now, a top favorite exhaust noise) and is fun to drive.

I don't hate my 2008 Civic, but I don't like or love it. I miss "liking" a car... I need to get something different.

Reason why I dont like it:
Windshield pillars are big. The vehicle sometimes feels like im driving a dishwasher with its front blind spots. You get used to them, but they are getting tiring.

I got a manual transmission thinking it would be fun, but its not. There is noticeable lag for the rpms to go down while shifting, which creates a HORRIBLE driving experience. Its sad to say, but my next car is going to be automatic because of this.

After testing out the Clubman last week, compared to our MINI I love it. I like the extra length without being a big car, and I love the barn doors on the rear. I like that I can get in and out of the backseat without folding the front seats forward, and have more legroom in the back than in our standard MINI. It's a very practical car that retains all the fun-ness of the MINI. And I'm one of those people that likes the community that there is around the MINI. The people that smile and wave from other MINIs. The fun little things that BMW built into MINI ownership are a bonus. Sorry that you hate fun.
I love cars, but the problem is they are like schroedinger's hobby. They're always in a quantum superstate of being both awesome and a huge waste of time and money... until observation momentarily forces them into one state or another.

I'm sure they're great, but honestly, I just don't like them at all.
