I'm a newb on here, newb to VW's (since my 69' Beetle). Other forums I'm on have an "Official Wheel Fitment Thread". I searched but only found fitments mentioned in the 'Errmagerrd Neewwrb Qwerstshuns!'

Anyhow, maybe this can be made into a sticky or added to the DIY/All things you should know threads.

What is OEM wheels measurements (all trims)? Can people post up what they are running and how they fit?

Bolt pattern is 5x112 (easy, we know this), but what's OE width and offset? 16 x 7"? offset of +42mm?

OE Wheels are Hub centric and 57.1mm

Hope this helps others besides me

wanna put on a set of 5x112 18x7 et.43 the bore is same 57.1
i got h&r sport springs that's lower 1.5 front and 1.4 back ( not installed yet )
wanna put 215/35/18 tires (the tire shop said they fit 1 on to see if they rub to determine how wide i can go)

question
1. can anyone verify if this will rub.
2. do i need spacers? how much do these run?
3. any other info i should be aware of

please be patient with a newby, we all started at the bottom somewhere

1. shouldnt rub, thats not that much of a drop
2. you dont need spacers but if you want them to be more spaced out then yes buy em, but youll need extended bolts.

I'm new to this but I have a few questions,

I'm sitting on H&R sport springs and looking at getting either 18x8.5 et 48 square setup or staggered with 18X9.5 et 48 in the rear.

Is a staggered setup really worth it?

Also with say a 1.4 inch drop front and rear and 18X8.5 wheels would there be much wheel gap?

Thanks in advance.

I have a 2012 GLI in stock suspension. Would the vmr 710 19x9.5 fit without any issues in the front or rear? Et 35 or 45 and would it require spacers? Would i still run 235/35/19 tires ar would they have that stretched look? Personal preference, I dont care for tbe stretched look. I like the squared look just didnt know if it would lead to more issues with the suspension and rubbing.

Thanks

You won't rub with stock height no matter how wide your tires are. These cars have enough wheel gap stock to fit a family of cats comfortably.

You should be fine with et 45 wheels, don't put in spacers. If you don't want stretch go on tire rack, find a 19x9.5" wheel and see what tire it recommends for the gli.

Similar question

I made a hasty post in the MK6/GLI that got a lot of views but so far only one response. I did post this in the Technical forums with no responses yet.

I am looking at a local set of wheels from craigslist. The wheels are 19X8 front and 9 rear. Owners says they are ET 35. I am lowered on DG springs (3/4 inch drop). I don't plan on going any lower at this point. I do not like the stretched tire, camber, or poke look. I like the flush (just inside fender look)

1. will these work without poke?
2. what are the widest tires I can run without rub?
3. If spacers are needed, what would you recommend?

I have spent days doing research and I seem to get conflicting info. Any help would be appreciated!
