On this episode of HOT ROD Unlimited, the team heads to Vegas to see what's faster: a Factory Five kit car or a 542hp rear-wheel drive Lamborghini Gallardo. Associate Editor Jesse Kiser, Staff Editor Brandan Gillogly and professional driver Mike Essa pilot four of Factory Five's kit cars to see which one's the best on the 1/4-mile, road course, and street. The Mark IV Roadsters feature a 5.0L Coyote V8 and a 427ci from Summit Racing's new line of Factory Five drivetrain packages.

This is exactly the type of thing TGUS should be doing. Fantastic idea--though I'd probably take the Lambo, given the choice.

tbh most of the shows on motortrend's youtube are better than most car show on tv. If you like the crappy car challenges from top gear you have roadkill(my favorite btw) if you like coverage of cool cars/big drag racing events/car guy shenanigans you have hot rod unlimited, if you like bikes you have On Two Wheels, you have very expensive car reviews with ignition/epic drives, etc. And now the people that like off roading have a show called Dirt Every day.

You can't build that 33 Ford in your garage at all.

That car was extensively modified by Ridetech, including new custom A-arms, new steering rack and mounts, and a whole s-load of other modifications they made to the base kit as it couldn't handle the grip from those tires. Build thread at lateral-g.net.

Good point. It could be bit of a myth-busters sort of theme. They each show up in these, do their little adventures, but mix in high shool girls, cougars, a drag race, and a lap with the stig. It would showcase that they all have their own strengths.

At the end, they could declare Tanner the winner, and let him race the Lambo around Martinsville against a man on a zipline.

    12. 02-15-2013 10:48 AM #12
All FF cars are on R-compounds, and the Lambo is on streets. That's probably good for 2-3 seconds a lap right there.

Cool video nonetheless. But those cars are 1) not $50,000 in their current setups, and 2) not even stock FF5's.

They looked like R888s to my semi-trained eye, and spankin' new, too.

We get it...a much lighter weight kit car with no creature comforts is slightly faster than a "exotic" (which isn't really close to a race car) Must not have much on their plate lately, how about kit car manuf. vs. manuf?

If you really got the point of the test, you wouldn't support an idiotic statement like the one I responded to.

And why exactly are you "tired of these stupid tests"? Did this test somehow ruin your day? Did someone FORCE you to watch it? Or did you just need something to whine about?

EuroPartsBin- JustAnotherUserName responded to a post by jkm7385. He then responded to your first post in this thread by saying "If you really got the point of the test, you wouldn't support an idiotic statement like the one I responded to." The post he is referencing there is jkm7385's post, not yours.

Now when you said "I support it because I MADE IT," it looked like you were taking credit for the subject of JAUN's post[IE the post by jkm7385 he initially responded to]. It's not that complicated.

Now I expect you'll call me some names because I made you go back and re-read. I'm sorry re-reading makes you cross. Here's a cookie:
