      Title says it all.

Can you pull out your old sensors, buff them up, and re-use them?

I had an old black temp sensor laying around. I noticed it wasn't clean, used a wire brush to buff it clean. Now i've exposed some copper.

It's not life or death, just a curious question.

I dont think that will do much of anything. Why not just buy a new one then its new and fresh looking

The magic happens on the inside, Cleaning the sensor will have no effect on its ability to work or not(With in reason)

I just went out and splurged on 2 new sensors. Don't forget the 2 o-rings as well.

I feel guilty. It was a wopping $40. (Cdn)

I might as well since I'm putting in a new thermostat as well. And the o-ring.

Sure you can, but if the sensor was bad before the spit-shine, it'll still be bad after the spit-shine....

It's sort of like offering to pay more tax than you have too, or returning your refund cheque, or folding toilet paper into the fancy napkin flower shapes before you use it.

you're better off learning how to use a multi-meter and the testing procedure from the bentley manual.
