and will someone please explain to me why sooo many people showed up the first year?? someone must have done some mad networking

also I think a BBQ the night before is a great idea. that's what we did for the Ouray cruise this year and that was a great time. I'd be down for that as long as work permits

i'm working on convincing a few of the gj guys that it is well worth the trip. every euro fool in Colorado should attend this drive atleast once.

oh and one more thing, if they can make room for a Datsun I doubt anyone would mind a touareg
When this started I believe several people were involved, there was a website, talk of shirts, bbq and gtg the day before, etc. I guess they lost interest, moved, etc.

that makes more sense now. I usually post about it on all the threads I visit regularly but seems like the only real interest is here on vortex. it's a bitter sweet thing too, like, the more the merrier and all that however, sometimes a lot of people will limit the amount of fun you can have. To many people can draw a lot of attention, etc.

either way I'm looking forward to this again

Woohooo!!! Anyone going out the day before? Wife and I were talking about either camping around Four mile if it's warm enough or getting a room somewhere - maybe BV? Wife's ok with camping down to around freezing with the 6 month old - any colder than that and she pulls the eject handle on camping.
      Peace!

I was planning on heading up a day early. I still think a little bbq in salida the night before would be cool if anyone else is up for it.

i too was gonna try to head up a day early. camped twice and loved it so i may camp again, but we could also all get several rooms at the local hotel and have a BBQ in there courtyard that night.

I really excited for this year... dont know why. always love doing this drive.

Jarred... when are you headed up?

So as stated in the first post, we are DEPARTING the visitor center in Salida, CO at 11am SHARP, I would even like to do sooner, but don't want to make any more changes at this point haha Plan to be there earlier than that to talk and plan and leave on time. Please get gas before hand, we don't need to be the cluster at the gas station after 11am.

I would like to get an official roll call going in the first post, so let's start that now, anybody going post below this post, I don't want to sort through "maybes" or commitments from months back, let's see who's going as of today and what you're driving.

I would also like to get a group together from the front range, or Denver area to drive down to Salida together Sunday morning, wish I could camp like past years, but just not going to work this year. This meet is going to be at the park-and-ride/gas station by Bandimere on the North West side of C-470 and Morrison Rd, we will meet here 7am-7:15am and depart at 7:30am SHARP. This should put us in Salida around 10am, time for gas and breakfast and snacks and some chit chat in the parking lot before we go.

Keep in mind this is un-official and un-associated with any group or club, respect eachother, and drive safe but have fun

We'll be there. Driving to somewhere in the BV/Salida area Saturday. We'll get a kid and dog friendly motel Saturday night and see everyone Sunday. Woot!

We're also going out there tomorrow. Wife wants to go to the wine fest -- and the balloon classic down in the Springs. Betcha I go through two tanks of gas in the Touareg this weekend!
      Peace!

What a walk down memory lane, thanks for the message bout the 2013 Kolorado Treffen. The first year was quite an event, and a great time. The event was created as a no BS, no club, no anything, come and drive event. Scoty and Mike (and others) were instrumental in the first annual.

Sadly, I have been unable to attend any others, and would love to attend this year but will be out of town.

I'll spread the word though, and maybe some folks that have never experienced the drive will be able to make it.

Glad to see it is still a thing.
