Thread: Car jerks while driving at constant speed and has a Rough Idle, Help Please!

    1. 06-24-2013 05:02 PM #1
I have the following two issues, and I want to get them find a fix before they cause any related damages...

      1st issue:
Driving at a constant/consistant speed, my car jerks as if I were tapping the throttle peddle and then coming off of it. This jerking of the car is subtle at lower constant speeds, and more noticeable during freeway speeds. So an example would be driving at 65mph and the car would slightly slow followed by a slight lurch forward as if the throttle were to be blipped. This does occurs when I use cruise control, but not when I am accelerating.

      2nd issue:
My car idles at 900rpm and dips slightly below 900rpm to shoot upwards of 1200-1400rpm and then momentarily back to 900rpm before it does it again. This would occur at idle every 5-15 seconds when I am pressing my clutch in. If i am in neutral and no clutch, the rpm's do not jump around as much.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks in advance!

you need to scan it, is the CEL on?
Any VWs made after 92 are usually only good for drive train donors.

No Cel at this moment but The issue has been on going... and after several months I did get a CEL (P0300-Random misfires), I reset it and then after a few more months same CEL P0300 again and I just reset it once again.

Have you tried a throttle adaptation?
Or check the maf sensor.(clean it )
I would go over you vacuum lines
and see if any of the check valves
      are cracked.
Go over the evap. system too.
What type of gas mileage are you getting.
It probably something simple causing it.
By any chance is there a strong gas smell
when you first start the car up?

      Haven't done a throttle adaptation...

I will clean the MAF sensor today...

Gas mileage has been decent. I haven't check this month but last month I was getting an average of 21miles per gal with mainly highway driving.

And it does smell of gas outside the car upon start up (outside the car, not in the cabin), and sometimes I think I smell it when I get hone from work too.

Hmm, I would check for leaks (fuel) check your plugs too, to see if that tells you anything. You "might" have a dirty/bad injector or injector o-ring,

Pressure-test and check for boost leaks......

Hi, I have the same issues, except my cruise control fluctuates at slower speeds (40-50mph). Not so noticeable at 70mph. I also get the idle revs fluctuating occasionally also, again like blipping the throttle. I have a 2011 Golf MK6 1.6 TDI CR car. No fault codes so this one has me stumped?
