SPM (Score Per Minute)
In an FPS K/D is my main thing. Even when playing a support role. Dead support doesn't support.
Turn based RPG: DAMAGE. I love the single-round kill.
Action RPG: DPS dealt or tanked.
All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated and well supported in logic and argument than others.
90+% of games I play for the single player story experience, that is what matters most to me, however, when playing online I prefer a good k/d ratio, to me that is playing it smart, thinking things through and trying to accomplish a win.
Now with those majority I play for the story, yeah I'll try to find the collectibles (if I get something for it, like concept art, vids, etc) though if I don't score 100% I'm not kept awake at night nor do I feel the itch to play the game over just because...... :/

Upon my word I have had as much excitement on a car as in the air, especially since the R.F.C. have had women drivers. -James Byford McCudden

I just find it extremely odd that people can't have fun playing a video game and simultaneously have a nice K/D, W/L, SPM... or on the flip side having nice stats means you're a try-hard not having fun
Me having a nice K/D in no way shape or form takes away from my experience of the game... in fact it only makes it more fun for me.
Since when does having nice stats mean you're not having fun playing a game I don't have to do anything differently to have nice looking stats, I still play the game just as I normally would... oh well :shrugs shoulders:
i have a ****ty k/d (~0.80), and i'm not great at TDM (0.75-1.25). however, i when i play objective-based games like domination, all i care about is capping and defending. i couldn't care less about my k/d in those game types, just as long as i'm helping the effort to win. that being said, i chose score per minute.
welcome to the layer cake
Depends on the game but I think it also relates to the team you're on... At least in the case of BF3 with 64 players. A terrible team usually means your K and points are going to suffer. I think score in BF3 is a decent indicator but again you have to also weigh it against W:L. It's bloody difficult tho not impossible to get MVP or Ace Squad on a losing team. And by losing team I don't mean the match was close, I mean the majority of your team should rage quit and uninstall.
-[(5 - MIN(TIER,5))*125] / [1 + e^( ( TIER - (GAMESPLAYED/220)^(3/TIER) )*1.5 )]
It's a formula for calculating how good you are in the game World of Tanks.
my choice is most deaths most captures in an FPS game. i dont care about K/D as long as i get the most caps in a domination game i can have 38 deaths and not give 2 poops.

I'm an officer in a decent land holding, gold earning, M60 winning clan, and also on a tournament team that gets top 5 finishes. We use player statistics for recruiting, and we've yet to find a player who's skill didn't match their statistics.
As for your nice looking K/D, do I really need to post up the screen shot of your 0.74 again?
