hi guys i'm matt, figured its time to make one of these because the car is finally starting to take shape..

It's a 2005 Reflex Silver Jetta GLS 2.0 5spd. I bought it in very early Feb. of this year with a blown clutch for a steal. I put a new clutch in it, and so it began. The car is mint, 152k miles and just a few dings, other than that the car is all original and is in beautiful shape. Maintenance history is great, PO got the timing belt done a few weeks before the clutch blew (bad luck, but good for me.)

      Current Mods:
TFL pin removed to disable DRLs
      Black housing rearview mirror
      Installed my Pioneer AVIC-D2 Navi
      15% tint
      Stubby antenna
      Rokkor coilovers
      337 steering wheel
      Badgeless grille
      hood notch shaved
      Joey mod/glass lenses
      GLI taillights
      GLI MFA Cluster
      GLI Recaros
      Window mod
      Extended antenna range mod

And what would a thread be without pictures:
Day one just rolled off the tow truck

a few days after i got it home, and a fresh wash, paint is in great shape

      after the 15% tint

the day the rcs went on

and the most recent picture a buddy took of it

      Future plans:
      Spacers front & rear
      Badgeless Grill
New front bumper/rub strip without license plate holes
      Retrofit headlights/HIDs
      GLI lip kit
      Comfort turn signals mod
      GLI headliner swap
      Maybe GLI tailights?
Shaved notch hood/boser hood (not sure yet)
      GLI Recaros
      BFI weighted shift knob

      Maintenance items:
Replace torn inner right CV boot....DONE
New oil pan because the current is rusted to **** somehow..
      Front right ABS sensor....DONE
Spacer for secondary O2 sensor to fool car into thinking my bad cat is good
Trace down a rough idle (slight misfire?) when idling i.e no load on the engine whatsoever

Looks good. Please lower this car, not with springs, with coilovers at least
How old would you be, if you didn't know how old you were?

Coilover's will get you lower, but there's nothing wrong with a nice spring/strut set. Just depends how low you want to go and what your goals are.

I ordered a cheap set of WRDs, lol. I just want a nice, clean drop. I'm trying to just get rid of the wheel gap completely. I don't really wanna roll the fenders, or have to notch the frame, so I'm not gonna go that low. I plan to get 8mm spacers for the front just to prevent rubbing, and maybe 15mm for the rear to give it a nice look.

1st pic! This was one of the best upgrades hands down. Not only for looks but for the driveability. The car handles quite a bit better, and the lurch forward between gears is completely eliminated. I'm in love. Thanks WRD!

Anyway, I know the car isn't that low right now. This is the lowest I can get out of the front and the tires are barely missing the coil adjusters. I already ordered spacers from BFI so they should be here soon and I can do more low! But as of right now I am extremely happy with it.

and just for reference, the picture from above on stock suspension

Man I need to learn how to take better pictures.

I feel your pain with the passenger strut. I said screw it it and ended up going to harbor freight and buying a spring compressor. 20mins later I had it off

24 1/4 ftg.. the front has me worried a bit. I'm not that low in the front, but I'm getting some sort of vibration at random times. Not sure if its the axle self notching the frame (which I doubt) or i blew my axle when moving around the passenger rotor trying to get the strut out.. I had a torn CV boot prior and I still do. But from what I understand the OEM axles can handle a lot?

If you have a torn boot, your axel is the place to start looking when you have a thumping sound. Has happened to me many times.

i wouldnt even call it a thumping sound, more of a rubbing, i know its not the tires on the adjusters for sure. its more prominent when i take my foot off the gas, when i get on it it almost goes away. its also more noticable when turning right..

i took a video tonight driving that shows the noise, its processing on youtube now.. i havent taken out the sway bar or anything yet. got the wheels balanced when i first bought them, still have yet to get an alignment.

noise went away on it's own... idfk. I think it was the axle, and it'll get looked at when I take it to VW soon to get the CV boot done and I'll find out what was wrong I'm sure.

Anyways, got a box of goodies today from BFI, went lower on the front. About 24"ftg all the way around, 17threads left in the front, 5 in the rear. Got 10mm spacers on the front. I'm just about happy with the stance, might need to make some final touches but I love how it looks.

      Photo dump...

Went out with a few friends for a quick cruise, a friend took some rollers and a few nice pictures at a overlook in my area.

The last picture is one I took today after I lowered the front a bit more, it still needs to go lower.. lol. But this is about as low as I can go without tire meeting fender over every bump. 10mm was too big of a spacer for the front. I'm gonna buy 5mm spacers, throw them on the front, and put the 10mm on the rear.

been a boring few weeks, been broke, hopefully getting some more stuff done soon! ill be getting my hood notch filled at some point these next few weeks along with a badgeless grille

but picked up a 20th steering wheel this week, quite a nice difference.. at this point im considering getting rid of this to just get a gli and save the money spending on gli parts and then at least i get a 1.8t lol
