I picked up a VR motor for $20. Guy said it had spun a bearing.

So I figured It'd be a perfect candidate for a VR coffee table.:D

I'm gonna get it hot tanked, cleaned, painted and put a piece of plexiglass on top.
Anybody have any creative suggestions?

He wasn't lying.

Nevermind, he did.

3 spun bearings in all. He said there was only 1. lol.

Is any of the left overs any good to use?
I know the crank isn't and those 3 rods. But what about the other 3 rods and the 6 pistons. Re-usable?

It is 3" shorter than the real coffee table we have.
hmmm...

If I do that I'll have to get it welded and it'll have to be level.

Well... If I butt the crank side of the con rods to the bottom of the block.. Those are all flat surfaces. That would bring it up about 6".

or use the rods to raise the glass. I.e. make them supports for the glass
I feel this would draw attention from the deck. I want people to see that staggered 6. I've recently found out this blow (non vw) peoples minds when they find out these are 15* angle V6 engines.

Thanks though. Got anything else?

What about the pistons?
Should I set them into the cylinders and weld them so they are flush with the deck?
Or use them as feet to disperse the load?

Thanks bud. I'll poke around in there.

Clean like that i would swap it in my car instead of a table frame! :p
It seems a bit counter intuitive to through in a OBD1 narrow band VR in my '03 GTI.
