Yesterday morning i killed this baby in my backyard...

The dog was kind of scared, had a weird look when i went out to feed her...then bam! right on the side of the door i see this little fella...after changing my soiled underwear i took the only measures a man could take with these creatures....

We allow most to stay. They get rid of the few other bugs that end up in the house. We do not get much bugs in the house anyway and the spiders tend to die or leave quickly.

Here's a nope for ya too.

The pic is skewing things but:

While the giant golden-crowned flying fox is one of the largest bats in existence, the perspective on this picture is making it look larger than it is. Typical wing span for one of these bats is 1.5–1.7 meters (4 ft 10 in–5 ft 7 in). Endemic to the Philippines, it is now listed as endangered due to poaching and habitat destruction.

I almost wonder if that was somebody's escaped pet tarantula. Where do you live, anyway?

I killed a scorpion in my outdoor kitchen the other day, one of the little titchy nasty ones.

Spiders keep out the riff raff -- they take care of roaches, ants, the occasional unfortunate cricket that makes a wrong turn and winds up in my basement.

I think of spiders like I think of concealed carry. I don't necessarily like 'em, but I let them be to go do their thing, as long as they don't start making a scene.

And yeah, I think you killed with fire a harmless-to-people tarantula. Scaredy-pants!

Funny how the city-data forums for NM are littered with "how do I kill these gd'nd scorpions?'

I picture folks out in their bathrobes, trampling through rock-laden yards with a golf club, headlamp and UV light.

      And Fox-Bat is pure awesomeness

A golf club? A golf club.....a golf club! Eureka! That'd sure as **** be an update from the flyswatter I use now. Tee off on the little mother****ers like you're chipping out of the rough.

And yes, that's pretty much exactly what happens. You find one close to where you spend time, and the sheer paranoia leads you to stalk around your house for half the night, shining a black light around, bashing scorpions and spitting filthy profanity at them.

my house is the third lot from the corner and maybe 12 more empty lots till next house
there´s an empty lot in front, too (both sides of mine are empty) we are on a small hill...
the whole comunity has seen a lot of close encounters with bears, any kind of spider, scorpions, snakes...(ive stepped on a snake on the stairs to the second story) and like 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 millions of ants...theyre a damn plague!
a couple months ago, i was fumigating and a big, 10 inches centipede charged against me...that was scary...
this spider was just sitting there about 20 inches from me, at my face height gasp! right next to the laundry room...hence the soiled underwear.
damn thing had like 6-7 mm fangs, i wasnt investigating if it was harmful...

Challenge accepted. Eighteen holes of Scorpion Golf sounds pretty rad. Handicaps if you get stung.

And yes, that's pretty much exactly what happens. You find one close to where you spend time, and the sheer paranoia leads you to stalk around your house for half the night, shining a black light around, bashing scorpions and spitting filthy profanity at them.

Living in SC, I'm up to my knees in critters (live on a reservoir so plenty of creatures, gators etc.). I let the spiders do their thing unless they are A) in my bed, B) in my shower, C) run across my foot...

Then they have violated the non-aggression pact we signed in August of 1981 in Prague. Then I they are smited with holy vengeance.
