Had an interesting and exhilarating drive today from Baton Rouge to Houston. 2014 Silver CC passed me with a BMW Z4 M coupe trailing at about 90 mph.
So I watched them for a min then decided why not join in on the fun. Caught up with the Bimmer and she was being cautious just cruising at 90 but the CC had pulled
away and was steadily widening the gap. Well I have a 2012 Deep Metallic BLK R-line 2.0T 6 spd DSG who's engine is bone stock so I decided to catch this guy and see which was fastest on top end.
Those of you familiar with the 4 lane stretch of hwy between Beaumont and Houston know it's a great place to get your car up well over 100mph with relative ease with minimal chance of being zapped by radar. So I get in behind the 2014 CC2.0T (love the new tail lights and new LEDS by the way) and then pull along side and just drop the hammer. 110, 115, 120, 125, 130.... 131Mph. I look over and the 2014 is about two cars back in the left lane and not gaining an inch. I have just over 30K on my 2012 so it's apparent either my aero dynamics were better or my car was jsut better broken in. I have pushed it to the limiter on more than a few occasions. Just wondering if they moved the limiter down because I always heard it was 130Mph on the CC's. All blk 2012 CC R-line wins this one!

My 2013 tops out at 125 mph.

Oooorrrrr maybe the other guy just let off. Theres no reason for a 2 car difference when you have identical cars. Just saying. Ohh AMD aerodynamics hardly ever matter. Specially when its something as minimal as a front bumper.

Well, actually at those speeds, drag coefficients (aerodynamics) do start to come into play, but the Cx for the new vs. old CC are pretty close, so the result the OP was talking about was minimal. It doesn't really even sound like he walked him either, so I'd agree the other guy probably just lifted, or the '13 has a slightly lower setting for the ECU governed top speed.

In that case maybe the op had the little optional trunk lip (spoiler?) and the '14 didn't

Yeah seems the 2013-2014 does as well. Neither of us lifted. We were both all out to see which was fastest. Gotta get this APR stage 1 soon to remove my limiter.

Cars were not identical. I have a 2012 he was in the newer 2013-2014.

I believe the limiter from the factory is 139 mph. My car currently has no limiter, but I have not sniffed those speeds.

Perhaps it's not the cars but drivers.
