Hey quick question? Which oil do you guys use? Pep boys is having a sale where you can get a quart of mobil 1 synthetic for $5. I was thinking about picking up a couple to have for top offs. what weight do you use? 0w-40 or what?

I've only ever run Mobil 1 0-w40 in my TT and it suits my needs well. Also its a steal at that price

I can't say anything bad about royal purple but after 2 oil changes in my gti my cam chain tensioner started to make noise. I think it might have a lot of detergents in it idk plus it's not 502 approved an hard to find in 40 weight (neither is shell rotella) .I do know it's high in zinc which is good

Mobil 1 0W-40. I just picked up a 5qt bottle and a new filter, actually. I didn't even think to go to Pep Boys.

I don't need to add any oil between changes, but I rebuilt my turbo and fixed my PCV. Do you have any major leaks, Hermes?

I used to use Mobile 1 fully-synthetic 5w40 but have since switched to Elf fully-synthetic 5w40 for the past year.

Used to use Amsoil Euro 5w-40. It got too expensive locally. Have since switched to Rotella T6 5w-40 or Lubri-Moly 5w-40. I alternate depending on sale price.

One thing I have noticed, I do seem to get a bit more oil consumption with the Lubri-Moly than the Rotella T6. Not something that I can readily quantify as my driving habits have changed recently ( more short trips ), but I am going to keep an eye on it. It's not a big difference and well within specs, but it has been noticeable.
