On December 11, 2013, a 700 HP Hennessey C7 became the first 2014 Corvette Stingray to break the 200 mph barrier by reaching a maximum speed of 200.6 mph. This was achieved on a closed section of the Grand Parkway which connects I-10 to Hwy. 290 on the west side of Houston, Texas. Officials from TxDOT, Texas DPS and TransCore were on hand to witness the testing of the EZ tag toll system.

The Hennessey C7 Corvette was equipped with the company's HPE600 upgrade with the addition of a 100 HP Nitrous Express kit. For more information, please visit http://www.HennesseyPerformance.com or call 979.885.1300.

What was the driver holding in his left hand, some kind of kill switch?

I love that this happened about 5 miles from my house. Must not attempt to replicate the results.

nitrous button. they couldn't have figured out a better hard mounting position for that on the wheel? seems kind of stupid to be not holding the steering wheel with anything except the heel of your hand at around 100mph.

All i want to know is, did the ez-tag work at that speed, and was he drunk?

Nice to see Hennessey's putting his customers' parts to good use once again.

It is just down the street from my parents house. I have been on that stretch many times in the past.

my guess would be nitrous/spray switch...

looks quick, i have no doubts the next z06 will be capable of near those speeds.

I don't always drive 200mph, but when I do, I do it with one hand on the wheel.

      AND more reliable.

      That was YEARS ago.

If he was shady you honestly think he'd be as big as he is?

FFS that's the same mentality anti-american car people have.

Such and such was this way years ago so it must still be the same.

I'm just surprised you think he's changed.

If a guy is literally stealing parts off of other people's cars like it's no big thing, that to me shows he's lacking some kind of moral compass. I mean, that I'm aware of, he served no jail time as a result of what he did. His only punishment for that whole incident was that people found out about it. That's it.

Also, plenty of companies have gotten big despite their being run by some extremely shady characters. Look at what happened with Bernie Madoff. What happened with him occurred YEARS ago as well, would you trust him with your money today? **** no.

John Hennessey is a lying, two-faced, immature crook who wasn't even man enough to take responsibility for what he did. If you want to trust him with your $75K brand new car after the sh!t he's pulled in the past, you be my guest.

Yet when you Google complaints they go back several years.

      Nothing is recent.

If he was still stealing parts then there would be complaints.

I'm aware that what he did took place several years ago.

My point was that he was not punished for what he did back then. If he got away with it once, what's stopping him from thinking he can get away with it again?

My guess is because he knows it would hurt him a lot more.

Would you clowns stop your ridiculous indignation for just 5 minutes. Not one of you actually had anything stolen from you, or have any chance of ever doing business with this guy. Nobody is saying that you have to label him the patron saint of the automotive aftermarket universe. But ffs, just watch a damn video of a pretty bad a$$ car, going ridiculously fast, and sounding insanely mean, and enjoy it without acting like John Hennessey shows up at your door ever Wednesday night to pour sugar in your gas tank and anally rape your mother.

Little much.... and if I wanted I could have a car worked on by him, but the reputation he built himself keeps me from having any interest.

      And you're defending him, why?

I like how adding a nitrous kit suddenly makes this a "Hennessy C7".

If I add a Tornado intake can I make one a "Viking C7"?

OK, more than a nitrous system.

But yeah...why didn't the car suddenly lurch forward +80mph when he hit the button like all the FnF movies have shown us how nitrous works?!

I don't think he's really defending him, or maybe he is, I dunno nor do I really care about the whole Hennessey thing but all this thread derailing about what he did just takes away from an otherwise awesome video.

Forgive me. When I clicked the link to check out the package, their website doesn't work. Why does this not come as a surprise?
