"It's back! Big is back. Because bigger is better. The 6000 SUX. An American Tradition."

In honor of the new Robocop let's talk about the old one!

The 6000 SUX is a modified 1976 Oldsmobile Cutlass four-door sedan. Learn me/show me some. I'll start.

If this has been done before then let this thread die in the annals of VMG.

Aw, man. I thought there was a new 6000 SUX!

I didn't know exactly what it was built from, so thanks for that!

Other than flat-black Tauruses(?), what else was in that movie that car guys would recognize?

I always thought the 6000 SUX was modeled, from the Pontiac 6000.

I don't think I've ever seen one of these olds before ever, although I have seen the Pontiac & the Chevy twin of it. A friend in High School had the Pontiac version Parisian? I think it was called, with the 400 V8, bought it for like $200. all it would do was one leg, what seemed like 100 yard burnouts

      I think PR is right

Looking at the pictures (in this thread only mind you) the lines/headlights/mirrors match up with the Pontiac 6000 as opposed to that cutlass you linked.

Found this randomly while doing image search.

6000 SUX / 77 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Two complete SUX cars that were fully operational was built with parts for a third one that the pro*duction people blew up in Dallas. From the beginning they wanted a big car in the four-door configuration, one that could be modernized to make It look more futuristic, so for the basic body they chose a '77 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, mainly because it had an Interesting window line.

I wonder why Robocop wasn't listed in VigorousZX's CV.

Cause that looks like something he would do.

BTW, I don't want to see the new Robocop unless it is verified that Ed209 squeals like a pig when he falls down the stairs.

To be fair though, so does a standard '77 Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Smog era GM barge with 400+ c.i. That explains the 8.2mpg. It's too bad I think the 455 was gone by 1977.

From that angle it looks a bit XJS meets Panamera. Could just be my unusual brain that sees that, though.

Me too; I wonder if they remade the TV show shots of the I'll buy that for a dollar guy in the new one. Unfortunately the first the first reviews coming out are saying is more like Meh instead of a Yes. Either way I'll probably end up going latter to watch it.

All futuristic cars from 80s sci-fi/action movies look outdated two days after the scene is shot (also, Back to the Future Part II).

The Parisienne was a fullsize. The LeMans was the Pontiac equivalent of this car.

I always thought it was one of the coolest car in the movie other than the Taurus, would be a nice project to rebuild one with LED lights, really nice interior and 1000ci V8.
