Mk4 Jetta off road suspention? (Touerag?)

Where I live there is a huge off-roading community and my Jetta wants to play. I'm looking to step up my suspension for LIGHT off roading and because my road has frost heaves like crazy this time of year. I've seen the 1-2 inch lift kits (links at end) but, i'm wandering about durability with them. My friend has suggested putting in the suspension from an SUV (the Touerag maybe?) similar to putting Forester suspension in an Impreza. I did a little digging and couldn't find anyone who has tried this, so that leaves me to believe it's not a simple task (if it was, someone would have been done it already). Now, I don't want to build a Jeep so it can't be too high, but I also don't want to hear about "you need to slam it"; It's fine if you want to do that to your ride, but i'd bottom out 5 times one way to work. Think rally car and remember how sick mldouthi's non stance Rabbit is.

Thanks for the plug there. haha.

The Tiguan shares suspension platform with a MKV jetta/golf but not the MKIV and a touareg's suspension is one of its own.

Your best bet with pulling parts from other cars is the use VR6 front struts and springs (if you dont have a VR6 motor), that will give you some lift and then use Jetta wagon suspension in the rear. Those coupled with the lift spacers will give you a decent lift. There are several guys on here with lifted MKIVs

Or you could try to modify some rally gravel suspension to work. Most companies only make kits up to MKIII.
