Jan 22nd Update

At the moment, we are not selling the Passat headlights.

Until we figure out the technical issues with the Option 4 headlights, these will not be available.

FYI - if you have an electronic background, access to a VAG-COM, and would like to see if you can get the Option 4 headlights to work, let me know. The turn signals uses Pulse Width Modulation, and we need to figure out a way to get them to work with the LED Turn Signal lights. The normal solution of using capacitors or resistors do not work.

If you can figure it out, you can have a set of headlights for free, just document your findings for us.

Morimoto HID kits are $150.

For ballasts, 35W or 50W are fine in these headlights. They use steel projector housings and glass lenses so they will not melt, just like OEM.
If you do get 50W ballasts, do get the next higher K of bulbs as they do burn brighter. EG, if you want 5500K color get 6500K with 50W Ballasts.

For the used sets, we test them out, and ensure full functionality, and ensure they do not leak. Aside from some minor cosmetic details, they are fine, and carry the same warranty. So, you can save some money if you want.

Features:

  • Plug and play installation, adapter wire harnesses, and resistors are provided for easy installation for the North American market.
  • Vastly improve your night time vision with these HID headlights.
  • HID Projector uses H7 or D2H/ HID bulbs. Regular H7 halogen bulbs can be used as well
  • Allows for both vertical and horizontal adjustments

Have a look at my old add, and a write up on these lights by VW Norm.

Note - you may see similar lights sold elsewhere, but I include the necessary complete wire harness, and other parts needed for a plug and play installation. As well, I will provide technical support and a one year warranty on the lights. You do not need to pay at your cost to return any warranty items unlike other vendors.

The wire harness is included so they are a direct plug and play installation to your car. The LEDs will function as DRLs for all versions.

Option 4 Headlights

Hi Ed, I was curious if the option 4 headlights have been figured out yet and if they're plug and play or if I'll need a computer or anything to override the aftermarket lights. Also curious if you have led taillights like on the new passat as well. Thanks Ed

Hey Ed,

I picked up a set of your option 3s used off of a member here. They are about 2 years old for reference....one quick question.

I get the BOW warning when first starting the car, in both the off and auto position. This quickly disappears after I flick the lights on and off. Annoying, yes a little.

Did you release a newer harness to correct this issue? If you did please send me the link to purchase this upgraded harness......if I read correctly.

Much appreciated.

I've been running option 3 in my Passat since Sept 2014. I installed them, along with whatever HID kit Ed sold as a pair back then. I love the way they look and they have held up well. No water or condensation issues. I do get a bulb out warning every now and then but overall they've been the best upgrade I have done to the car.

Unfortunately one of the HIDs went out. It isn't the wiring. I think the ballast died.

I want to replace the broken HIDs for a quality Morimoto set. From what I can tell from reading this thread, I need the D2H Morimoto Elite HID kit.

My questions are:
https://www.theretrofitsource.com/brand/morimoto/d2h-morimoto-elite.html?preselect=51812,50731,47697

1) What wire harness do I need? I'm guessing CANBus H7.
2) Do I need the anti-flicker capacitor?

I'm leaning toward 35W for the extra lifespan and 5500K color.
