First off, I'm not even sure where to post this but it's in a couple of forums. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to fully inform anyone whom reads.
I have a MK2 Vr6 obd2 Golf chipped with GIAC. I installed a wideband in it a little over a year ago because I was having a intermittent problem that my car would misfire, buck, stall, and run like ****. It would come and go day to day. Hell it would even run fine for 20 miles, run like **** for 5, then be fine again. I replaced crank sensor, coil pack, maf, o2, problem still there. Bought my buddies wideband off of him and threw it on.
I got rid of stock o2, installed wideband, used the analog output for the ECU signal. Figured out it was leaning out. Tried different fuel pump, same ****. Ended up being the fuel injectors. I swapped out the rail and injectors and problem gone.
Fast forward, a year later. I had my car parked about 4 months due to a deer and not wanting to drive it in salt.
First thing I noticed after two tanks of gas is that my fuel economy went down from 28mpg to about 21mpg. Then my car cut out a few times for a second at a time like I let off throttle when I didn't. One time it stalled when I got out, almost like someone shut the car off. AFR's have been normal, 14-14.4 cruising, 12.8-13.3 under full accell. Next day, car is misfiring, running lean while cruising 18-19 AFR, running rich idling 9.5-10.2, and generally doesn't feel correct nor run correct.
Scanned with vag com, only had misfire codes. Cleared it, drove next day, maf high circuit popped up, cleared it and cleaned my MAF.
Pulled out garage this morning, car is bucking like crazy and sounds horrible. Bogging down and couldn't go up hill. I let it warm up and it seemed to go away. I'm still having the cutting out problem, and my loss in fuel economy.
Think the wideband o2 could be the culprit?
