It's a bit early in the year than usual for this, but I wanted to get a count for who would be interested so I can start planning now.
For those who don't know me, my name is Jason, and I've led group 2 the past 2 years of the Kettle Kruise. With Jeff's (meanvw) blessing, he's resigned from planning and leading the event and has passed the torch onto me.
If you're unaware with this event, the Kettle Kruise is a spirited drive that follows the Kettle Moraine Scenic Route rather closely with a stop in the middle for lunch at a local burger stand. The route starts near Menomonee Falls, WI, and ends near Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI. Typically, it lasts for 5 or so hours, so including your travel time afterwards, we ask that you plan on this being an all day event. The route does usually cross near the interstate and other major roads, so if you can only come for a short while, those will be your best chances to head out. The event is planned for October, focused around the seasonal color change on the trees. Great opportunity for photos/videos, so bring your go pros!
From my experience in doing this, regardless of what group you're in, be prepared to throw your car around some turns. If you're not looking to push your car towards the higher end of the manufacturer specifications, or if you or any passengers easily get motion sick, this is not for you. We'll also do our best to avoid residential areas along the route, which Jeff has already minimized over time as the area became more inhabited.
If you're still interested in this event without Jeff leading it, I'd like to hear from you. If you're a newcomer with questions, or a veteran, and you are looking to help, give suggestions on how to improve, or just "kruise" with other enthusiasts to close out the season, post here or PM me directly.
