Arriving tomorrow afternoon. Leaving Saturday afternoon. What do I need to see/do/eat?
flash your moobs
puke in the street
pee on a building
eat crappy food
watch an LSU game and end up smelling like corn dogs
make fun of locals for whining about Katrina
buy a clapped-out car

Just went there this weekend. Stayed at the marriot in the Quarter.
Went to Jaques imos in uptown. First time I had ever been there and the food was great. Highly recommend it.
Also went to parkway bakery and had poboys and watched some of the Saints game with ~50 other people. It was awesome. The environment, the food, the weather, everything was great.
If you've never been. Drive( or better yet ride the streetcar) down St. Charles. Check out the garden district.
Walk the Quarter. Go to Jackson Square. Go to Cafe Du Monde(Get a table, the "to go" line is always ridiculous, it's cash only at the tables)
The only thing I didn't get to do was go to pat o'briens. I think its on Burbon, looks like a great place
Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.
This is how I do New Orleans...
I start the morning with a chicory coffee and beignets, get a hot dog at a place that the name escapes me...then I start the drinking with a nasty daiquiri at one of the daquiri joints followed by a couple of hurricanes at Pat O'Briens and a BIG ASS BEER.
I am usually in the swing of things by this point and don't care where or what I do from there as long as I some how get a dozen grilled and a dozen fresh oysters.
It is also around this time that I come up with what I think is a hilariously snappy reply to the constant ....Betcha I can tell you where you got dem shoes?
I'm sure it's pretty touristy and pedestrian but I have fun time.

stayed at the ritz before out there for work, amazing hotel. Beds so soft, I actually slept on the floor the whole time! I can't believe nobody mention going to acme oyster house. Some of the strip clubs are pretty incredible also. Don't forget getting some good benjays at cafe du monde... finish it off with a creepy walk around the old cemeterys
I always see a lot of people talking about Acme Oyster House. Being from NOLA, there are much better places to go, especially if you want oysters. Dragos for starters. Acme has decent food, but its gotten "watered down" over the years. Check out some places local to only New Orleans, Acme has moved all over these days.
