so i will start off by saying i have a 2000 jetta 1.8t. it has about 140k miles on it. the car runs and drives good until i build up boost. I will accelerate and my boost will go up to 10psi (which is strange because my car used to max at 7psi) then will drop to 5psi entering limp mode. After hitting 10psi my check engine light will not light up but if i scan my car it says p1297. i have searched and tried many different things to fix this problem. I have a 034 Motorsports pvc system and an upgraded 710n dv i bought from ecs. I hooked up a smoke machine from the brake booster line that leads to the intake manifold. No smoke was found. I looked at my intercooler and it is covered in oil not to the point where it will leave oil spots in the drive way. i replaced all the vacuum hoses from intake manifold to fuel pressure regulator. i have also sprayed every vacuum line with carb cleaner. then next thing i will do is take a better look at my intercooler. i was just trying to see if any one else has experienced these problems before? also i saw on wiki ross maybe its the n249 might be bad just trying to get some help before i throw anymore parts at this car thanks very much.

Have you tried doing a pressure test (see FAQ)? You probably have a leak somewhere and that's how you'll find it. A bad N249 will throw a different code FYI
