      Hey guys,

same s***, different day. did chains, water-pumper, tensioner and noticed that it wouldn't be a bad idea to do lifters and valve stem seals. After getting it all back together I drove it around thinking there lifters needed time to "settle" and they did....all except for one or two of them which sounds like it's coming from the front (second or fourth cylinder) most likely. I did the Lucus Stabilizer Oil mixture and it quieted it down for a short period of time so I think it's time to take it apart and check it out manually to see if they're seized or depressing too softly (causing the tick).

I understand that for some lifters like the Mazda's and Mitsubishi's are able to be disassembled and manually cleaned. I was wondering if the VR6 lifters were the same (in that they can be taken apart) or if I just need to buy new lifters in general. I'd prefer to just clean them up since they're relatively new if they can be taken apart. Thanks.

I know that you can take apart 2.0 lifters.. not sure about VR6.

figured it out. thanks. you just gotta slam the lifter down on a rag with a decent amount of force and it'll pop out =)

So here's my next question. Do I need to remove the side plate on the VR6 to take the cams out in order to get to the lifters? I'd prefer to keep it in there just to save on the hassle. If anyone has experience let me know. Thanks!
