so I am dumping the MKIII Jetta. Getting a MKIV GTI with a VR, it's a little rough. But it drives great. Need some love that I am willing to give. The MKIII has overstayed it's welcome. It can take it's automatic and hit the road. Best thing about the new GTI......it's Silver

Nope, it's an 01' so it's a 12V. I totally forgot how much driving a MKIV with a stock clutch and shift linkage sucks. But it beats the hell out of a tired VR6 automatic. Plus I am getting $1750 for the MKIII so I can't really complain about that with the work it needs. I would love to part it out and all that, but I need to move on this GTI now. It will be done by the end of the week, and I will be happy until this thing breaks. But hey Scotty, no more late night jump starts.

I need to get to SCI and have them re-work the linkage for the short shift kind of deal.

The only after market clutch on any car I have driven is my Dads 79 vette. The stupid clutch is so stiff...but when you have a 350 with cams a stiff clutch is a plus.

Oh yeah I am not dissapointed at all. It's just that the interior is so nice, and someone could use it. But now with this car and everything I had going on with my Wolfsburg I will be balls deep in projects. I am going to have to spend hours on just the cleaning of the GTI. I thought this thing was going to suck when I brought it home this weekend, but maybe the food crumbs helped preserve it. But it seems to be very mechanically sound. The clutch feels good, motor is super stong for high miles. Brakes are great, tires have a couple years left. I forgot how much I HATE traction control in the snow. Also never owning a GTI it's funny how rough they ride. But good little car.

Negatory, ghost rider. Although Heffner does do a Murci TT setup as well. 1100whp with a 5.10 second 60-130 run.

so I have got that pig back in the clean up stall, thank God for the MKIV DIY thread. I am going to need to take almost the whole interior apart to clean up what this slob did inside. I don't know how he didn't wreck more things inside. I am totally amazed at how good this thing runs and drives. Also I guess I am going to take my first leap into minor body work as well. Oh well a project on the cheap.

Yeah but it is Killahdanks were talking about so the interior probably isn't that dirty.

      PS fack the vortex.

Oh no, this would be horrid to anyone. I had it cleaned on Saturday, gone through again today. I haven't even touched it yet. Our shop is open until 1am again so if I am feelin it I will get back there tonight and go nuts. I have never seen so many crumbs and leaves and crap in a car. In fact I had to remind myself that this is just a DD. You should see the front right wheel, that is special. Plus I am going to have like 4 or 5 rust issues to deal with right when spring comes. The looks didn't sell me at all, the drive did.

      Yes, Fack the Vortex!

We serviced quite a few of Trevor Cooks cars at my work. We had the RS6 at our shop for around a month, and holy sh!t it is bad a$$. We did most of the repair work on the "lambo". We just called it the Fieroghini around the shop. The ghini got towed to our shop but left under its own power, but even after a couple G's worth of work it was still a POS. You couldn't even drive the thing because you couldn't even see out of it. However, even as a POS people would stop ALL DAY LONG to check it out, and say "Wow, that's a nice lambo." Then I would tell em it's a Fiero.

Well it depends on how much you like your car. I am just going to spot sand and primer and get a can of Reflex silver paint and touch it up and clear. Being as the car is for winter and rainy days it's not super important. I am confident I can at least make it look presentable. It's not bad at all, no paint bubble. Just surface rust so far. I am sure there are better ways but here is a start if your a DIY guy.
