snow-forecast.com is calling for temps in the mid-teens and about 18" of really low moisture content snow here. The NWS in Burlington, Vermont is not willing to make a hard prediction yet because the Wx models differ a lot. I'd love to see 18" but I think the storm is going to track a bit too far off the coast for that to happen. Boston should get hammered.

Just the other day, I was thinking this might be one of those years where there's just no snow. Now I'm sitting on 8 inches and told to get ready for another 12. I also have a couple things happening Tuesday morning that are going to be fairly annoying to reschedule. Bleh.

I have a feeling my stubbornness to buy a snowblower is going to bite me on this one.

I actually kind of feel sorry for you. You will never know the great joy that is beige Prius parking lot snow drifting.

Only a short drive to local mountains to play in all the snow we like. Then drive back home and leave the whole mess up there..

This was a few weeks ago..

And then I drove home, picked up the family and had dinner down by the beach

Haven't used the snow blower yet this season. Looks like that's about to change.

Of corse it doesn't snow all winter, then I go for a four day snowboard trip and my house gets buried in snow.

I hope my neighbors realize, and dig me out. (They all have snowblowers)

To the guy that hasn't bought a snowblower: what are you thinking? !?!

Interesting to see how little the mid hudson region will get compared to western CT. Kind of all over the board with their estimates. Only time will tell.

I work at a dealership part time and yesterday I had the joy of cleaning off all the cars followed by shuffling them around so the kid who plows the lot could get all the snow. Turned to rain half way through, at least I made some money.....

Still looking like 18" of low moisture content snow at Killington. 35 mph winds will blow most of it into the woods. Tuesday and Wednesday will be tree skiing days.

A question for all you folks anticipating the snow: what's your ideal amount of snow (in inches) where it feels like winter, but it's not a real PITA to get to work? I mean, do you really enjoy being snowed in and having to use a generator in the event of power loss? You end up falling behind at work and have to make up for it later.

Seems like you'd want about 6" so you can blast around in an empty parking lot and your kids can make snowmen, but at some point it's too much.

4 to 6" of snow is easy to deal with, esp if it is light snow and if it's heavy wet snow it's still manageable. Anything more then that it turns into a pain in the ass if you don't have snow blower or a plow (I have neither) I am not looking forward to this upcoming storm at all. As mentioned earlier in this thread I too was under the impression that it was going to be a lite Winter.... This storm certainly begs to differ.

In western mass 4-6" is not an issue, 12-16" gets a little more interesting but can be lots of fun with AWD. Its the 24-36" of it in say like 12-24 hours that becomes and issue with plows and such keeping up.

South of the mason Dixon? Yeah. 2-4. Anything more shuts things down too long.

No adult with kids enjoys giant storms that affect you beyond a couple of days. Schedules get all kinds of jacked up and difficult to catch up with it all.

      Whole home generator setup, check.

Snow blower and 5 gallons of gasoline, check.

      Bring it.
