Thread: VR6 in mk1 cabrio shift linkage

    1. 02-16-2015 05:16 PM #1
I have a mk1 cabby with the stage 2 eurowise kit. The dude I bought the car from mangled the shift linkage and broke a piece of it while trying to do the swap himself. I am wondering if I am going to need to change out the shift linkage to make it work? I know eurowise sold the cableshift conversion kit...so that makes me think I would need it...but they are sold out. What did you guys do to make the stock 1.8 shift linkage work with the vr6? Any help is appreciated.

      You have 2 options.

1: You would have to use the cable shift system that came from the donor car or a donor with the same 02A transmission (shift box and all), this is what I'm running in my VR6 cabby now.

2: You would have to convert to solid rod using your cars original shift linkages with this kit here http://www.clausvonessen.de/pi69/pi38/pd1332.html. I just bought this kit from a member here on the forums and will be installing them soon-ish, so I can give feedback then.

      Thats it.
