I have a new Beetle with the 1.9TDI that is experiencing some slippage at changes from 3rd-4th or while in 4th under heavy torque and I happen to have a good 09A laying in the garage. I'd rather just do a manual swap, but considering the 09A is just sitting there and my daughter is the one driving the Beetle, I just kind of wondered about it. About the only thing I'm not sure about is whether or not a harness from a newer Beetle with a 09A would retrofit with an 01' Beetle 1.9TDI. From research so far, many have asked the question, but I haven't found anybody that has actually done it.

Just for the record, when I got the Beetle it wouldn't hardly move without major TCC slippage and it was 2 quarts low. I'ts been driven for a month with no problems, but I noticed some slippage climbing long hills and switching from 3rd to 4th on occasions. Concerning the 09A transmissions, so far I've successfully put five back on the road, so I have some experience with them (and have been fortunate too).

Does the statement "2 totally different transmissions", mean that the 5 speed tiptronic transmission in the Beetle is totally different from the 5 speed tiptronic in a MK4 Jetta?
