      Major congrats on the purchase!

I am extremely jealous and wish you many, many miles of happy motoring. I doubt you'll ever see another one exactly like it!

I may have missed it, but did you have to special order this?

If not, what a find to have locally in that color with the standard. Should hold resale very well

I really hope that when i'm in a better position to buy a "nice car" awesome outliers like this are still available, and we aren't all relegated to self driving electric econo boxes

I did not have to order it. I just got really lucky - the dealership I bought it from is a small town, even smaller dealership. Only one allocated SS last year, and one this year. The owner of the place has an office right on the showroom floor, that's how small we're talking. He just happened to order this combination because he also thought it would be a very rare find. (at least so they tell me)

Give it some miles then re-check the mileage. GM V8's are notoriously tight. The LS motors take about 40K miles to fully break-in and return the best numbers both on power and economy. As the miles rack up, the mileage will get noticeably better.

So I have heard. I was just kinda joking about the mileage thing. This thing could get 10 mpg all the time, and not a single damn would be given.

Already driven it around most all of FFX county today, for no particular reason. Couple hundred miles to go before I really lay the hammer down.

Nice car. Is it pretty much a Chevy G8 GXP? Any improvements or major changes over the G8? THE G8 was a pretty awesome car all around and the GXP was even better.

One of the best things about these super sedans(or coupe in the gto's case) from gm is they hold their value like crazy, even the gto has held its value pretty good.

**** yes! Love that color. Can't wait to see more photos of it in different lighting

If it were me I'd get rid of all the chrome. I think gloss black would look great for the trim.

Yeah, pretty much. The marketing speak is that almost every exterior and interior trim piece was changed between the VE ( G8 GXP) and VF (SS), but it's the same LS3 and six speed. Which isn't a bad thing, to me.

The SS now has brembos all around, and of course the mageride. Also, the layout of the new dash looks to be much more functional. I only sat inside a G8, never drove one though. If someone has owned, or still does own a G8, I'd be curious to hear their thoughts on a comparison as well.

Pictures are coming. I wanted to take some yesterday, but it ended up raining all day. I'll be busy the next two days, but I'll get them up soon.

I commend OP for stepping up and buying something new off the showroom floor, instead of talking about buying a used one 5 years from now.

Yep, I've already read up on the great Crazy Paul from SSforum. I don't think I'm gonna go make it Holden, because it would bother me if everything wasn't changed over, and there's no way I'm doing the airbag inside the car.

However, and this covers Ryukien's question, too - I did get the black side vents ordered from the dealer (part of my purchase). I think I'm going to see how I like just that to start...I don't mind all of the chrome up front, and I actually like the contrast on the door handles. I might end up ordering the blacked out fog grills from CP, and then see how I like the chrome outline on the center grills.
